Alright Ladies, this post is for you.

To be honest, I’m disgusted by the way our world treats you. It’s sad to say, but it’s almost as if our world purposely ignores the way we treat women. And Christian or not, the topic of weight and waist floats across the board of conversations. Not to mention how many women have struggled with weight issues in their past. The heartless conversations definitely don’t help.

The Church is supposed to be a place of freedom, acceptance, and purity. But how many times have you found your insecurity level rise while in the presence of Christian men or women? Our conversation is supposed to encourage, not deter.

Ephesians 4:29 - Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

1 Samuel 16:7 - For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.

If yes, why is that?

Now don’t get me wrong. I am not saying all Christian men/women are like this. But what I am saying is that it’s wrong and not of God. You are beautiful in the eyes or God, and until someone can look at you through His eyes, their sight is of the world and not of purity.

Continue to seek God, and do not let the opinion of men or women crush your foundation in Christ. Regardless if you weigh 50 lbs., 100 lbs., or 300 lbs. You have been made in HIS image, and don’t you ever forget that.

Ladies, your beauty is not defined by your waist size or weight but by your heart and passion for Jesus Christ. And if anyone says differently, I wouldn’t waste your time in their presence because they’re only going to bring you down.

A real man knows waist size is a waste size. It’s the heart for Him that counts.

Genesis 1:27 - So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

How did you know your spouse was “the one?”

I’ll get us started …

People have always said, “You’ll just know,” when you’ve found “the one.” I never really ascribed to that saying, but with Steve, that’s exactly what happened. I believe that as a Christian, when we seek God’s choice for our spouse through prayer and submission, He does give us a peace and certainty about the person He desires for us to do life with.

Beyond the extreme God-given peace I felt deep within my spirit about Steve, there were other things that further affirmed that choice. My family and friends all loved Steve and couldn’t speak highly enough about him. They also pointed out that he seemed to bring out the best in me and vice versa, which I believe to be a HUGE indicator of a wise spouse selection. Additionally, he met my list of “must-haves,” and then some! I could picture a lifelong journey with him. And I knew that I could trust him – his judgment, integrity, guidance, and decisions – because he was (is) a God-loving and God-fearing man.

Steve was the guy I prayed for and dreamt of, and I just had complete peace, confidence, and excitement that he was the one I wanted to spend my life with through thick and thin.

So, you may have seen some of our recent Facebook posts and Tweets about this, but we are working on a new video project that we are super pumped about! It’s been in the works for a while, but 2 weekends ago we actually did the filming. Eee!

It was a gorgeous day out, which was perfect since we had decided to shoot outdoors at one of our favorite local parks. My husband, Steve, who has taken point with this whole project, was an amazing jack of all trades! Our camera guys, Justin and Eric, were outstanding and such a blessing. And, of course, our couples in the video were marvelous as well.

All in all, it was a super fun (and frantic) day that we are supremely ecstatic about. Now Steve will be working on all of the cutting, editing, and stylizing (He’s ridiculously talented at a lot of things, including video editing). Although we can hardly wait, the reveal is yet to come … so stay tuned!

Steve’s and my first date (technically) was a Tyrone Wells concert in Los Angeles. His song Wondering Where You Are already had a special place in our hearts so we decided to hit up his concert. It was an intimate venue, and we enjoyed singing, dancing, and being together. It was a fun and memorable first date, and the best part is that every time I hear that song, it reminds me of that night.

What do you admire about your spouse (or significant other)?

Truly there are too many things for me to list that I admire about my hubs, Steve. But one of the things that I admire the most about him is his consistency. No matter what is going on around us, he is always so constant. This comes in handy during chaotic or stressful situations because he is consistently the calming, logical presence that carries us through to the other side. With that comes such sound judgment that I treasure. It gives me confidence that, in times where I am not around, he will still always do the right thing, make the right decision, and implement integrity and discernment. He just possesses this quiet strength and steadiness that I appreciate so much and always hope will rub off on me.

What is something your spouse or significant other has done for you recently that really made you feel loved?

Over the past couple of weeks, my husband has been giving me foot massages almost every night! I don’t know what sparked this, but it has been so incredible. Foot massages at the end of my long days are so relaxing and medicinal, but more than anything, I feel so incredibly loved by my husband when he takes the time to care for me like that. It’s been such a blessing and makes me want to ensure I’m reciprocating with something that is equally as wonderful for him.

What do you think the general attitude toward and outlook on marriage is?

I’ll get us started …

From my personal experience, the general attitude toward marriage is a negative one. It seems a lot of people have lost hope and faith in the possibility of having a lifelong marriage. TV shows, movies, and magazines paint this picture that marriage is some sort of death sentence. Wives are constantly portrayed as these controlling nags that their husbands can’t stand, and husbands are apparently a bunch of sports-obsessed meatheads that can’t control themselves when it comes to women they’re not married to. It’s not looking good out there for married people according to the world.

Fortunately for my husband and me, we have found that the general perception and outlook on marriage is a lie. Marriage is what you make of it. If you put the time, effort, love, work, and sacrifice into it that it requires, you will reap the wonderful rewards.

We’ve also made sure to surround ourselves with other couples that love each other and being married. We find it to be necessary, refreshing, and a great way to spur our own marriage on. So, while the world screams at us that marriage is the end-all to happiness, we choose to listen to and project our own counter-cultural message that marriage rocks!

What is your spouse’s (or significant other’s) favorite candy? What’s your favorite candy?

I’ll get us started …

I find that it’s extremely important to know the favorite candy of your spouse. You never know when you’ll need candy handy for a peace offering or a thoughtful surprise for your sweetie. It’s a simple and smart thing to have in your bag of tricks.

My husband, Steve, has two favorite kinds of candy – gummy peaches (not peach rings) and gummy grapefruits. If I want to put a smile on his handsome face, I just strategically place a bag of one of these sugary delights for him to find with a love note. Works like a charm.

As for me, I have two favorite candies as well. Probably my all-time favorite is peanut M&Ms. I could sit down with a giant bag of these and devour them in one sitting by myself (which is why I usually steer clear of buying them). Next in line are gummy Lifesavers. They are just pure deliciousness. Like me, my hubby uses these sweet treats as a way to make my day from time to time.

What Easter traditions exist in your home?

I’ll get us started …

Easter is one of my favorite holidays. As a Christian, this is the time to celebrate the victory we have in Jesus. Easter is the heart of what we believe and why we believe it. One of the things I did with my family growing up and now with my husband to celebrate is go to Easter church services. There’s something about being in church remembering the sacrifice and victory of our Savior that moves me very deeply, which is why it’s a tradition that we will always keep.

Another fun thing my family started and my husband and I have continued is an Easter egg coloring contest. We definitely get creative in my family adhering things to our eggs and using whatever means we can to win. You see, my dad judges the eggs and picks his top 3. Even though I haven’t been home in years for Easter with my family, we still email pictures of our eggs to be judged. It’s a tradition that we have a lot of fun with.
