TalkingTuesday

Share your thoughts, feelings, and stories as well as respond to others regarding these questions:

Do you and your spouse, family, and/or friends have any fun summer plans on the horizon?

I’ll get us started …

Steve and I are heading to Virginia this month for my sister’s college graduation, and we are super excited about it! It was a long-term goal for my sister to complete her degree, and she did it with flying colors. We are so proud of her, and it’s going to be absolutely incredible to have the whole family together to celebrate her accomplishment!

Other than that, we have a bit more of a subdued travel schedule this summer than normal, but I am sure we will do plenty of fun, local things to make memories. We rarely sit still for very long, so I doubt this summer will be an exception to that rule. Summer is always a fun time, so I’m looking forward to what we can get into J

Okay, it’s your turn!

Congratulations to our April Talking Tuesday giveaway winner … Lauren L.! We love hearing from you all, so please keep joining our weekly discussion to get entered to WIN this month’s giveaway!

What’s been one of your favorite moments so far this summer with your loved ones?

I’ll get us started …

My husband, Steve, and I have had a jam-packed summer. From the word go, we’ve been traveling, entertaining, rendezvousing, and generally running around like chickens with our heads cut off. It’s been a blast though, and we feel like we’ve made the most of every moment, as we usually do.

Some of my favorite moments this summer were getting to spend time with family. My oldest sister, her husband, their little girl, my mom, and my dad all came out for a visit the beginning of June for some incredibly special and blessed time together. Then I got to head home to Pennsylvania in mid-July to visit with my family, which is always a welcomed trip (There’s no place like home!). Other than that, celebrating my husband’s and then my birthday made for some super fun and much needed alone time with my sweetheart! The fair, quality time with friends, summer concerts on the lawn, and food truck meet-ups are all little adventures we’ve taken advantage of. Plus, there’s still more to come! Honestly, I love summer with its sunshine, long days, and fun to be had!

Okay, it’s your turn!

Congratulations to our July Talking Tuesday Giveaway winner … Becca Nolte!!! We love hearing from all of you, so thank you all for your participation! Don’t forget we pick a new winner each month, so keep sharing your thoughts and stories :)

What was your favorite part of this summer?

What are you looking forward to heading into fall?

I’ll get us started …

It’s always tough for me to narrow down what my favorite part of anything is because I usually love it all. But, since I asked the question, I suppose I should force myself to answer. My favorite part of this summer was my husband, Steve, and I going to several new places together for the first time. We recently came up with a list of places/things (local and not local) we wanted to make sure to see, and we started checking off several of those places this summer. It was so nice to feel like we were actually doing what we set out to do while making some incredible memories along the way.

Moving into fall there are two things I am most looking forward to – my sister’s wedding and football! My sister is the last of the three of us girls to get married, and I am so excited to be a part of her transition into marriage, which is something I believe in so much. As her matron of honor, I get to share this incredibly special journey with her up close and personal, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! Plus, she is getting married back in Pennsylvania where it is the most incredible time of year with the leaves changing and the crisp autumn air; I can picture and smell it already. And there’s no place like home near Penn State to kick off college football season. I’m giddy just thinking about it. We are … Penn State!

You’re turn!

Did you and your family and/or spouse go on any vacations this summer? If so, where?

Is it an annual trip? What was the best part?

I’ll get us started …

My husband, Steve, and I have been doing quite a bit of travelling this summer, and we still have quite a few places still on the books. We didn’t necessarily go on a vacation, but we saw plenty of places including a trip to the central coast of California with his parents, Catalina Island for his birthday, and San Diego for my birthday. Still to come – we are heading to Donner Lake, which is Steve’s annual family vacation; North Carolina, Minneapolis, and Pennsylvania for my sister’s wedding. We are quite the busy bees, but the best part of all of our running around is making memories together and with those we love. Those are moments and opportunities that I have come to sincerely cherish.

Your turn!

Sizzling Summer: All is Fair

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Summer is here, and that means there are plenty of fun and exciting opportunities to get closer to the one you love. Not only are the days longer, afternoons warmer, and the nights filled with fireflies, stars, and the smell of summer, but most of us are filled with excitement and a sense of adventure. That’s why it’s the perfect time to take advantage of all these things and discover some fun, memorable dates with your sweetheart.

One of my favorite parts of summer is that it is fair season. As you see them roll in all the food, games, and rides on wheels, you know that it’s that time of year. Nothing says summer time like cotton candy, candied apples, funnel cakes, deep fried twinkies, ferris wheels, impossible games, clunky rides, old school entertainment, and ride tickets.

Fairs are the perfect date night! Guys, you can give those games your best shot in hopes of winning your gal a stuffed bear to tote around. Ladies, you can pull out some cute summer outfit and hold on tightly to your man as you go for a thrilling and somewhat scary ride on one of those rides that get toted all around the place (hoping they didn’t forget a screw or something in the last town). You can both stuff yourselves on that yummy, fair-only food. All while you laugh, make memories, and take silly pictures. It’s the perfect place to go, let loose, and laugh with one another.

Tip: Often times local vendors and newspapers will offer coupons or special offers so you can get some discounts on your night out at the fair.
