Behind the Scenes

Thursday, May 10th, 2012

By Ashley McIlwain

So, you may have seen some of our recent Facebook posts and Tweets about this, but we are working on a new video project that we are super pumped about! It’s been in the works for a while, but 2 weekends ago we actually did the filming. Eee!

It was a gorgeous day out, which was perfect since we had decided to shoot outdoors at one of our favorite local parks. My husband, Steve, who has taken point with this whole project, was an amazing jack of all trades! Our camera guys, Justin and Eric, were outstanding and such a blessing. And, of course, our couples in the video were marvelous as well.

All in all, it was a super fun (and frantic) day that we are supremely ecstatic about. Now Steve will be working on all of the cutting, editing, and stylizing (He’s ridiculously talented at a lot of things, including video editing). Although we can hardly wait, the reveal is yet to come … so stay tuned!

In the meantime, here are some behind the scenes photos that got snapped throughout the day to tie you over.

A Touching Story: Peter & Andrea

Thursday, December 2nd, 2010

Sometimes our own problems seem so overwhelming. Our joy and gratitude for the blessings in our lives are choked out by all the worries, disappointments, and challenges we face. What we fail to realize is that those same negative things in our lives can easily become blessings in and of themselves if we choose to view them that way. Obviously that is easier said than done at times, but that outlook can make all the difference in the quality of life we live, especially within our relationships.

A couple of weeks ago, our church shared a story of a couple tackling and overwhelmingly difficult challenge. The video really moved me and made me realize how much harder I need to try to see the blessing, not the problem. There is always an upside to every situation. There is always something we can learn or take away from the pains of life that can make us a better person. Beyond that, this story really forced me to put my marriage into perspective. It’s easy to focus on the flaws and shortcomings of our spouse, but what do they really matter in the grand scheme of things? Again, we get caught up in all of the negative and in the process, miss out on the blessing of the wonderful spouse we have chosen and been give to share life with. There’s no promise for tomorrow, so don’t waste time on things that don’t matter. Savor your spouse and make sure to treasure the gift of marriage you have been given.

I really wanted to share the video of Peter and Andrea’s story from our church because I think it will greatly impact you like it did me. Please share your thoughts.
