What is/was the thing you most look(ed) forward to about getting/being married?
I’ll get us started …
There were so many things that I looked forward to when it came to getting married. Perhaps the one that stood out most to me was just getting to do life with Steve. He is my best friend and the person I love being with more than anyone else, and I was just so excited that I would always get to have that … to enjoy him by my side for the rest of life.
Already, I have discovered that the companionship and friendship of my husband, Steve, are unparalleled. Through the good times and bad, I am so thankful to get to hold his hand through it all. Whether it’s an adventure, the day-to-day stuff, or the rough times, everything is better with Steve. I’m so thankful to be married to my best friend because life with him is truly the best!
Okay, it’s your turn!

Honestly? Looking forward to living together and being able to fall asleep next to each other. We would spend all day together until it was bed time and he had to drive an hour home. I felt like we were already married except for the sex part. haha.

Tiffany, I like your honesty! Spending the night together and enjoying intimacy as a married couple is definitely one of the huge blessings of marriage that is worth the wait! It’s nice not to have to “fight” it

I remember looking way down the road to when we were older. The thought being able to be there for each other, looking after each other. I liked to think of growing old together. We were friends for many years before we started dating and we were dating for many years prior to getting married. We both had kids when we got married and I looked forward to watching them grow up, helping them mature, together. Then the time we would have for us, after that.

Vicki, that concept of “growing old together” is so appealing to me too. It’s something that many desire but rarely want to truly work for. I often think of what it will be like to one day be sitting out on the porch of our house as two elderly people, rocking side by side, holding hands, and talking about all of the years gone by. It puts a smile of contentment on my face to think of all that we will have shared, overcome, and accomplished together. What a blessing, huh?! Thanks for making me think about that again

I’m looking forward to spending everyday with my best friend; laughing, loving and enjoying life together doing the things we enjoy!

Jill, thanks for joining the conversation! That’s definitely one of the best parts of marriage … doing and enjoying life together to the fullest!

I’m looking forward to being noticed, chosen, loved, truly known, and just having someone to do this ministry life with, side-by-side. On the flip side, I’m looking foward to loving and serving my husband in the ways that encourage him, and supporting him in whatever God calls him (or us) to do.

Lindsay, thanks for kicking off the conversation! I really love your outlook and anticipation for marriage. One of the things I love most about marriage is that companionship and cultivation of God’s plans and purpose for us as a couple and as individuals. It’s wonderful to get to support and encourage God’s calling on your husband’s life in such a significant way. And it’s nice to receive that as well! Great outlook
