Behind the Scenes
Thursday, May 10th, 2012By Ashley McIlwain
So, you may have seen some of our recent Facebook posts and Tweets about this, but we are working on a new video project that we are super pumped about! It’s been in the works for a while, but 2 weekends ago we actually did the filming. Eee!
It was a gorgeous day out, which was perfect since we had decided to shoot outdoors at one of our favorite local parks. My husband, Steve, who has taken point with this whole project, was an amazing jack of all trades! Our camera guys, Justin and Eric, were outstanding and such a blessing. And, of course, our couples in the video were marvelous as well.
All in all, it was a super fun (and frantic) day that we are supremely ecstatic about. Now Steve will be working on all of the cutting, editing, and stylizing (He’s ridiculously talented at a lot of things, including video editing). Although we can hardly wait, the reveal is yet to come … so stay tuned!
In the meantime, here are some behind the scenes photos that got snapped throughout the day to tie you over.

Me, speaking from the heart.

A Special Message
Wednesday, December 21st, 2011As the end of 2011 approaches, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt appreciation for the support you have shown us. Foundation Restoration continues to work hard to restore the very foundation of society – marriages.
There’s no doubt in our minds that our ministry is a greatly needed one. Marriages are struggling and people are searching for hope. The devastation of broken homes is undeniable, which is why we have passionately committed ourselves to our mission to help relationships thrive. We believe in the precious gift of marriage and the extraordinary significance and importance it plays in each and every person’s life.
This year alone we have served nearly 36,000 people through our website. We’ve had nearly 700 correspondences with people from all across the globe that have either expressed to us their gratitude and/or a specific need. We know that God is using us to educate, prepare, equip, and encourage people at every stage of life. Here’s what one person shared with us:
“I just wanted to take a minute to tell you thank you. I really enjoy the resources provided by Foundation Restoration. I really appreciate the efforts you go through to provide these resources and for your daily encouragement to each and every person to make it work. I really wanted to tell you thank you
Keep up the good work!!! So many people are being blessed because of your efforts.”
As a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization, we rely heavily on generous financial gifts from people like you to keep our ministry up and running. Would you prayerfully consider helping us in our fight to preserve marriages? Your year-end tax deductible gift is very much needed! The suggested donation is $50. Some of you will not be able to give that amount, and some will be able to give more. All we ask is that you please do what you can, and we will continue to do the very best we can!
Blessings,

Ashley McIlwain

Announcement: New Feature
Tuesday, August 9th, 2011
A new feature is coming soon!
That’s right, starting next Thursday, August 11th, we will debut our new feature Noteworthy.
Have ever you noticed how music has a way of evoking an array of emotions? Or perhaps you are like me, where there are times a song captures what’s in my heart. Then again there are moments where I hear a song that just resonates with what I am going through, and I feel understood. My guess is that most of you can relate, which is why we decided to launch this new feature.
Starting August 11th, Noteworthy will begin to appear on the Little Wifey blog on a regular basis, showcasing songs that we have found to inspire, encourage, and uplift our relationships. It could be a romantic, serious, or cute song, but the point is for you to create a playlist that encourages you, your relationship, and/or marriage.
In the words of Ronald Reagan, “Life is one grand, sweet song, so start the music.”
So, mark your calendars because August 11th, Noteworthy will arrive, and you aren’t going to want to miss a beat of this new, fun, and fresh feature!

It’s a Launch Party!!!
Sunday, May 1st, 2011By now most of you have heard about or seen that we would be making a big announcement regarding May 2nd. The time to share the exciting news is upon us, so without further delay I am pleased to announce that we are about to have a HUGE, two-week long party that not only you are invited to, but you aren’t going to want to miss!
It is no secret that marriages are struggling to survive let alone thrive. The general attitude toward marriage has become less than favorable, and people everywhere are losing hope in the home. The consequences of marriages falling apart are having devastating, domino effects on children, families, communities, and society as a whole.
So, what can be done about this deterioration in the very foundation of society? That is a question I have devoted my life to both answering and taking action to resolve. It all started out as a simple dream to make a difference and grew into a major ministry that is changing lives everywhere. As you all know, I began this journey by creating a website you know as LittleWifey.com where you are provided with free articles, resources, tips, and information to promote healthy relationships. Over a short period of time, Little Wifey gained a large, faithful following that proved the desire and need for such a resource. As stories began pouring in of lives being touched by the website, it was obvious that it was time to take the next step of faith.
God laid this passion and vision on my heart, and I knew that despite my fears or concerns, He was going to make a way to bring this all to fruition. That is why, along with my husband, Steve McIlwain, we have worked tirelessly to establish this vision and ministry that God gave to us to establish a non-profit organization called Foundation Restoration. Receiving our official 501(c)(3) non-profit status on May 27, 2010, we have since set out to revolutionize society through comprehensive resources readily available to singles, dating and engaged couples, and thriving and struggling marriages. We believe that, through our resources, the weakening of society can be completely reversed to the point where individuals, marriages, families, communities, and ultimately, the whole of society, will thrive.
So, beginning Monday, May 2nd and continuing through Friday, May 13th, Foundation Restoration will be hosting an online party, open to the public, for launching our new website www.FoundationRestoration.org. The website launch party will include daily articles by an inspirational line-up of special guests, along with giveaways that rock, among which are a special Precious Moments figurine, jewelry by 31Bits, a Chick-fil-A goodie basket, date night gift packs, and much, much more!
Visitors to the new website will be able to access a variety of valuable resources all aimed at promoting healthy relationships. Also featured on the website will be articles and interviews with relationship experts, the acclaimed Little Wifey blog (for those of you who were worried, Little Wifey will still exist; it just has a new homeJ), discussion forums, book recommendations, relationship-building resources, as well as access to professional services. This practical, down-to-earth resource brings a fun, fresh, and passionate approach to “helping relationships thrive”!
Make sure that you don’t miss out on our amazing, two-week launch party because it’s going to be unforgettable! You can check out the full schedule of events by clicking here. Make sure you SPREAD THE WORD!!! Here are a few ways you can help do just that …
- Email everyone you know telling them about Foundation Restoration, why you love us, and to check out our amazing launch party.
- Tell everyone you know about us … your church pastors, friends, co-workers, businesses, etc.
- Post a link to our website on your website, blog, Facebook page, or Twitter. Above each post on the website, there is a box that you can click on to share that particular article or giveaway on Facebook or Twitter.
- On the website, I have posted some graphics and icons for you to use. Click here to check them out – you can download and/or embed them. I’ve also created a page specifically sharing the launch party line-up of authors and giveaways, so you can check that out and share that link.
- Check out the website! Browse our pages, articles, etc. and see what we are doing for yourselves. Not just during the launch but every day thereafter!
And here are some other ways you can show your support and help us out …
- COMMENT!!! J Share your feedback on our various articles and on our Facebook page. It helps get the conversation going, and I love hearing from you!
- Make sure you “like” us on Facebook!
- Follow us on Twitter! Make sure to tweet about us and re-tweet our tweets. (If you know nothing about Twitter, just ignore that crazy bird lingo.)
- Donate! I know, I know, money is tight. Trust me when I say, as a non-profit organization, we understand being on a tight budget better than most people, but we simply cannot do what we do without your help! No matter how small or large, each and every dollar makes it possible for us to provide these resources to people. Please, consider helping us financially!
- Pray! Doing what we do, we know that we need to constantly be upheld in prayer. Please pray for the success of the launch, website, and the non-profit as a whole moving forward. Beyond the website, we have big dreams and hopes for Foundation Restoration, and we really need each of you praying for us.
Thanks everyone! I hope that you love our new website and home for Little Wifey! Now, LET’S PARTY … May 2nd – May 13th!!!!
*Please note that future email correspondences, updates, newsletters, etc. will be sent from newsletter@foundationrestoration.org. Make sure to add us to your contact list to ensure delivery!

The next step…
Tuesday, August 31st, 2010As you may have noticed, there haven’t been any updates or posts recently for Little Wifey. It has been a very busy time for me, but one of excitement and new adventures that I am ready to share with all of you. For those of you who receive the monthly newsletter, you know that we have recently taken Little Wifey to the next level as a non-profit organization.
Nearly two years ago, I felt like God was calling me to a “bigger purpose.” Of course, I kind of brushed it off thinking I was either going crazy or giving myself way too much credit. But God continued to tug at my heart that He had given me this passion for marriages and really wanted to use it in a unique and bigger-than-I-could-imagine way. Feeling silly to tell anyone about these “encounters,” I kept them to myself and pursued a normal career path. Door after door shut, and I began to realize that I couldn’t ignore what was pressing on my heart, so I started to really pray about the situation. I pleaded with God to make sense of all of this and give me a clear vision of what He had in store for me. One day I sat down in Barnes & Noble with a blank pad of paper, my computer, and a posture of openness. Without even really knowing what I was writing, the next thing I knew I had drawn out a rough business plan for a non-profit that was aimed at helping to restore marriages – complete with a name and a list of goals.
Forming a non-profit organization where I would have a platform to help restore marriages and pursue my passion was staring me in the face. Not knowing how to get there or if I would ever get there, I set out on a journey of faith taking one step at a time in that direction. I prayed that my husband would understand this bizarre calling I felt on my life, and sure enough, God answered that prayer too. My husband stood behind me completely and allowed me the space and support to meander through this blind leap of faith. In the times I completely doubted myself and this impossible goal, he would encourage me that he believed in me and this vision and passion God had laid on my heart.
In an effort to take the first step forward, Little Wifey was birthed. Since July of 2009, I have used Little Wifey as a way to make available as many free resources as possible for anyone and everyone wanting to make the most of their relationships. Each day I write articles pertaining to various marital and pre-marital topics, provide an extensive list of book recommendations, suggest dating ideas, hold giveaways for an array of items, offer tailored advice to those in need, among other avenues of encouragement to help relationships thrive.
With the loving and incredible help from my husband and the support of our family and close friends, we recently felt it was time to take that next step toward the ultimate vision I believe God has given me. So, we sat down and began researching, working, praying, and delving waist high into how to form a 501(c)(3) non-profit. After months and months of hard work and prayer, we were able to finally form a board of directors, file the State & Federal applications, and begin to make this dream a reality.
While the “big items” are checked off the list, there is still a lot of work to be done. From setting up a new website to integrating Little Wifey into the non-profit; from designing a logo to finding a solid & consistent donor base; from setting up a home office to getting all the necessary supplies…the list is long.
All the while I have also had a wonderful and blessed opportunity fall into my lap to be Managing Editor on a new project being launched by Moody Publishers to help individuals and couples in the pre-marital stages of life. It is called Start Marriage Right and is launching on September 1, 2010 coinciding with the release of Dr. Gary Chapman’s newest book called Things I Wish I’d Known Before We Got Married, which inspired the need for this type of resource. This past weekend my husband and I had the opportunity to fly out to Chicago to meet the Moody Publishing team I am working with as well as attend Dr. Chapman’s marriage seminar The Marriage You’ve Always Wanted. There we had the unique opportunity to sit down with Dr. Chapman, and I was so honored to get to talk with him about both the project as well as an array of other topics. Needless to say, I am super excited about Start Marriage Right and how it is going to impact the lives of those preparing for marriage.
Obviously I am ecstatic about all of the doors and opportunities God is opening for me, but my plate has become considerably fuller. Over the next month or so, things are going to be slightly different with Little Wifey. Instead of writing articles daily based around a particular series, I am going to take a break from that to focus on getting the non-profit off the ground as well as getting situated with my new project with Moody Publishers. I will still post entries, but they will be more casual in nature and not necessarily on a daily basis.
My prayer is that while I am in this stage, you all will continue to check out the website, leave your comments, email your thoughts, stories, & questions, and interact on the Little Wifey Facebook page. In addition to that though, I ask that each of you would prayerfully consider partnering with our new non-profit…Foundation Restoration. Our mission and goal is to restore the foundation of society, marriage, and we would absolutely love and appreciate your help in accomplishing that. Perhaps it is becoming a donor – once or consistently. Maybe you have a talent you are willing to offer (web design, graphic design, musically, etc.). Possibly you have a platform to get the word out there about what we are doing. Perhaps you want me to come speak at your church, university, etc. Maybe you are in the Southern California area and have an office space available for us to use or know of a Marriage & Family Therapist Supervisor that can offer up their services. There are obviously a plethora of avenues for how you can get involved to help further our mission and accomplish this dream. While working toward this moment, I have spent countless hours of my time unpaid in the hopes of helping one person, one relationship, one marriage. This is my passion, but I need your help now. Please just take a moment to prayerfully consider what you might be able to do to contribute.
I want to conclude by saying, “Thank you!” Thank you to all of you who have been so supportive of me and this vision! Thank you to all of my faithful readers; I really appreciate & value you – you are why I do this! Thank you for helping to spread the word; commenting on the blog; commenting & “liking” on Facebook; following, tweeting, & retweeting on Twitter; emailing me your stories, feedback, & comments; and for donating financially to keep things up and running! I cannot thank you enough; it really means more to me than I can express!
Blessings,
Ashley McIlwain
